Vince Benedetti's <The Jazz Heritage Big Band. 2nd Edition>

The resurrection-premiere of Vince Benedetti's <Jazz Heritage Big Band> 2nd Edition was held admirably May 2002 in the Jazz Museum "Jazz-o-Rama" in Zürich.

The first Jazz Heritage Big Band originated in 1987. As with that band, focusing on arranging pieces selected from the vast repertoire of standards and jazz originals. The musical concept centers around achieving a balance between the instrumental and vocal. To that end Vince Benedetti features two male and two female vocalists together with a stellar array of instrumental soloists. And for the first time Vince included something that has almost been forgotten: a tap dancer!

At this moment there is a resurgence of big band activity in German-speaking Switzerland.

The jazz Heritage Big Band 2nd. Edition differs from the other big bands in this region for two important reasons; Vince Benedetti

- Firstly, we are the onIy full big band that presents exclusively original arrangements and not   those borrowed from any other band. This allows us to fashion our sound around the individual qualities of our singers and soloists.

- Secondly, we are not relying on momentary big names from other places -such as New York to make our mark, but rather make use of top talent from the area. Our singers and instrumen-  talists represent a new generation of skilled jazz performers that has recently come to the fore    in this part of the country.

It is Vince Benedetti's goal to provide musical entertainment without pretense, drawing on the best
material that the straight-ahead Jazz tradition has to offer: So please Sit back and enjoy our concert, and we wish you good listening!     Vince Benedetti and The jazz Heritage Big Band.2nd Edition
